On April 29th, my band- AN HONEST MISTAKE held our sophomore album launch & showcase at PUBLIKA. Even though, the band has only been around for about 3 1/2 years but there’s really signs of stopping or slowing down from us. We’re constantly pushing ourselves to make music, perform, raise funds and record new materials.

One and a half years ago, we had our first album showcase at an indoor auditorium where we had 4 camera for LIVE FEED, concert-standards sound & lighting, a fashion show (to showcase our official tees) and that we had appx 250-300 attendees. I thought that kinda set the bar pretty high for ourselves and even to any other bands too. Come this album launch, initially some of our members were thinking of having it at LAUNDRY bar (that’s the only place BAND DUDES think of when it comes to gigs) but personally I’m not so keen because it’s a small venue and you can’t really get your music out to the public.

Long story short, I have successfully made a deal with PUBLIKA for the usage of The Square (the open stage area) to hold our recent album launch & showcase. In my mind, I just wanna get our music out to people who are not aware of AN HONEST MISTAKE and have no idea what our songs like. Therefore, having it at this open area will certainly generate more awareness. Many have discouraged me not to have it on the date mentioned because it is on the same date as two other rock concerts happening in town, AUGUST BURNS RED & AVENGED SEVENFOLD. That did not matter to me much because, it really does not matter much to me because…my objective is not to target other musicians, band or rock-music lovers who most likely already knew who we were to attend our showcase (of cos, it would be awesome if they could) but this event is to raise awareness about us and our music to people who does not know us.

With the help from my good friend-Isabella, we managed to secure appx 40 vendors / blog shops to come on board. I tell you…this young lady is amazing! It only took her 2 weeks to get everyone on board and we’re already chillin’ 3weeks before the showcase.

On top of that, I’m really glad to have friends of & from from the Malaysian YouTube communities who decided to make this event their first unofficial “Malaysian YouTuber Gathering.

They probably got more attention than our band did that day…How often you get to see your online/YouTube idols walking on street or hanging out at one place for hours. It’s really fulfilling to have everyone coming together…friends from the music industry, the YouTubers, the Fashion Entrepreneurs/Blogshop Owners, Friends & Fans.

Even Ean of HITZ FM came back to announce us on stage before he heads to AX7 Concert. Truly Grateful!

To sum it all up…personally I had tonnes of fun organizing this showcase together with Isabella and all the friends who helped out during the event. Sucha fulfilling experience! Also, a big thank to all the fans who came and giving us your best support.

I really thank God for such a successful event and especially for a fantastic weather…can u imagine if it rains? Truly, it’s about timing and til many extend punctuality is one of the main contributing factors to the success of this event. Unlike most of the other Malaysian Gigs…I KEEP TIME!

*laugh* Just wanna showcase my new watch I got recently for Casual use..especially when I’m rockin on Stage. It’s the new Victorinox Swiss Army ORIGINAL. =P
